CREW OF MTV'S SKINS RAISES OVER $2,000 FOR ACTORS' FUND OF CANADA IN FILM & TV CHARITY CHALLENGE

TORONTO - Crew members from the MTV Production, Skins have collected over $2,000 in donations as part of the Actors' Fund of Canada's Film & Television Charity Challenge. The challenge on this set began with a bang when the Fund received a $500 donation from a crew member who wanted to support the Fund in assisting industry members facing difficulties. Inspired by the original act of generosity other donations from the crew rolled in, including another $500 contribution.

TORONTO - Crew members from the new Canwest detective series King showed what can be accomplished in an hour, raising more than $1,000 for the Actors' Fund over just one lunch period on their set. Spearheaded by Key Grip Mark Manchester, the latest entry into the Charity Challenge centred around a communal garage sale. In the days leading up to the sale members of the crew brought DVDs, clothes and other items to set to be organized and priced by volunteers. While eager bargain hunters browsed through the merchandise others participated in a competitive and entertaining round of Christmas karaoke.

HEARTLAND PULLS AHEAD IN ACTORS' FUND OF CANADA FILM AND TELEVISION CHARITY CHALLENGE

CALGARY - CBC TV's Heartland has once again shown itself to be a force to be reckoned with, raising $7,300 as part of the 2010 Actors' Fund Film and Television Charity Challenge, more than any other production to date by year's end. This is the second time that the Calgary based show has led the Challenge. In 2008 it raised almost $12,000 with a community barbeque, complete with pony rides, live fiddlers and a silent auction.

Runner-up status goes to Shaftesbury's The Listener, with a total of $3,319 raised through an on set raffle. Other participants in the Challenge included The CW's Reaper, CBC-TV's Sophie, and Shaftesbury's Connor Undercover, whose efforts combined with those of the frontrunners to help the Fund realize a total of $16,200 in proceeds from the Challenge.
