RICHMOND, BC - Gateway Theatre announced today that its October 17 matinee performance of treasured Canadian comedy, The Foursome will be a benefit for the Actors' Fund of Canada. Tickets for the 2 pm show are $36 and are available online at gatewaytheatre.com.

The charming Norm Foster play takes place entirely on a golf course as four college friends stumble their way through a 15 year reunion. The characters are brought to life by the four actors, all of whom portray the slowly aging men with a perfect mix of humour and pathos. Called a "hilarious evening's entertainment" by View Magazine, the production which runs to October 24th is a sure crowd pleaser.

Gateway Theatre has long shown a strong commitment to the Fund, holding annual benefits in support of the organization. Suzanne Haines, Gateway's General Manager commented that "We recognize the important role the Fund plays in the Canadian theatre industry and are happy to do our part to ensure its continued vitality. We are always pleased to see how many artists in our community respond with warm hearts to the benefits, coming out to support the Fund as much as they are coming out to see the performance."

The Actors' Fund of Canada is the lifeline for Canada's entertainment industry. Performers and others who work behind the scenes in film and television, theatre, music and dance can apply for emergency financial aid from the Fund, which recently set a new record for the amount of financial aid delivered to industry members in a single year, topping $600,000 in 2008.

The Fund is a registered charity that has paid out over $3.7 million in rent payments, grocery money, utility payments and other basic living expenses in the last 10 years. Performers, creators, technical staff and other production team members can benefit from the Fund, which receives no government funding and is wholly sustained by support from individuals and entertainment industry organizations.
