National Advisory Board
|
To enhance its presence and engage with entertainment industry colleagues across Canada the Actors' Fund of Canada has appointed six volunteers to its National Advisory Board.

National Advisory Board members will act as key local organizers in raising the Fund's profile and increasing financial support for the Fund in each region.

They will provide valuable strategic advice and assistance to the Fund's Board of Directors and staff through involvement in fundraising operations, policy development and the fulfillment of the Fund's charitable mandate.

BC-YUKON: Gerhard Maynard
|
Gerhard has a B.F.A in Acting from the University of Regina and a Certificate in the Performing Arts from the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria. In addition to acting for the stage and screen he has studied Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Modern and Stage Combat. He headed the dramatics program for youth and young adults at the Saskatchewan Express Musical Theatre Studio in Regina, and has coordinated programs for the Saskatchewan Drama Association and the University of Regina Department of Theatre. He has been on the advisory panel for the Saskatchewan Board of Education for men in dance. Gerhard has appeared in various series, radio commercials, and television programs in Canada. His theatre credits include "Long Day's Journey Into Night", "Blood Wedding", "Can You See Me Yet?", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", and "Little Shop of Horrors". He received an entrance scholarship with the Canadian College of Performing Arts and the Canadian Heritage Arts Society's Outstanding Achievement Award. He is currently the Artistic Director/General Manager of the Tesseract Theatre Co.

|
Trevor is a Calgary based actor. Selected theatre credits include: Lawrence & Holloman (Blacklist Theatre Project) PlayRites 2002, 2004, Zadie's Shoes, Who Has Seen The Wind, The Collected Works of Billy the Kid, Keely & Du (ATP), American Buffalo (Ground Zero Theatre) Henry IV pt I, Love's Labour's Lost, Twelfth Night, The Merchant of Venice, The Hobbit (Shakespeare in the Park), The Space Between Us (theatreBOOM), The Hobbit, A Streetcar Named Desire (Atlantic Theatre Festival), Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, The London Cuckolds, The Misanthrope, The Visit, Angel's Trumpet, Possible Worlds, A Streetcar Named Desire, Henry IV pt I (Theatre Junction), All My Sons (Theatre Calgary), Lion in the Streets, Bent, (Sage Theatre), Outside, Whole in One, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Lunchbox Theatre).

Trevor is co-artistic director of the New Dance Theatre and a founding member of the Blacklist Theatre Project. He has been nominated three times for Betty Mitchell awards and was awarded the Most Outstanding supporting actor award for "Bear" in "Zadie's Shoes at ATP."

MANITOBA: Sylvia Fisher
|
Sylvia studied drama at Loyola College (Concordia University) in Montreal, Quebec and appeared in over one hundred community and semi-professional shows, as well as summer stock, television and independent films before becoming a stage manager.

She finished her studies at the University of Winnipeg and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia in 2001.

She has worked (as an apprentice, assistant stage manager and stage manager) with most of the theatres in Winnipeg, including the Winnipeg Jewish Theatre, the Manitoba Theatre Centre, the University of Winnipeg, Red Roots Theatre, Prairie Theatre Exchange and Theatre Projects Manitoba, as well as a school tour with Thunder Bay's Magnus Theatre.

EASTERN ONTARIO: John Koensgen
|
John is an Ottawa-based director, actor and fight choreographer. His directorial credits include, Criminal Genius for the Great Canadian Theatre Company, The Golden Age for the University of Ottawa's Drama Guild, and As You Like It for A Company of Fools.

In the early 1970s he was a member of the National Arts Centre's resident acting company. John has also performed in more than 35 plays at the Great Canadian Theatre Company including most recently Art, by Yasmina Reza, and several productions for New Theatre of Ottawa. He has also performed for Toronto's Necessary Angel Theatre, Centaur Theatre and the Belfry Theatre. Recently he starred in Conor McPherson's St. Nicholas for New Theatre of Ottawa. His most recent feature film credits include A Taste of Jupiter, House of Luk, External Affairs, The Girl Next Door, and the short film Helpless.

QUEBEC: Jane Needles
|
Jane is a dynamic, highly motivated member of the arts profession, whose wide experience covers all disciplines of the cultural world, primarily in the areas of administration and teaching of administration techniques. Born into a well-known theatrical family, Jane has developed her career from a very early age, having trained in the hands-on method in all aspects of production and producing an artistic event. Jane now works as an Arts Administration Consultant. In the past Jane has served as General Manager for Piggery Theatre, Encore Theatre, Montreal Young Company and Repercussion Theatre. She is currently the President of the Quebec Drama Federation (QDF), Treasurer for the Association of Cultural Executives, and a Board Member for Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN). Jane also teaches Arts Administration at Bishop's University.

ATLANTIC: Njeri Watkins
|
Njeri has 12 years of experience in acting, directing, stage management, producing and casting. She is currently the Executive Administrator for Grassroots Development Inc., a consulting firm that helps non-profit organizations with issues related to technology, diversity, small business management, and issues surrounding youth. Njeri was also an Outreach Facilitator for Breast Cancer Action in Halifax. In film and television she has worked as a Production Coordinator, Producer, Production Manager, and 1st Assistant Director. Njeri is pursuing a Batchelor of Commerce at St. Mary's University.
